However, Oranges & Lemons will only recommend new format products if they meet our criteria: 1) a significant advance in sound quality, flexibility or convenience is promised; 2) software and discs must be readily available at realistic prices.

Hard Drive Archives At last hard drive storage of music at high quality has become a reality with storage big enough for movie collections soon to become affordable. An exciting, affordable option is the Sonos music system which can access your computer or NAS and send your music to as many rooms as you would like, each with independent choice of music and volume. Oranges & Lemons can now offer a range of high quality media server solutions from Passive Technologies. These amazing boxes allow streaming of music, movies, photos, home movies via an ethernet network aswell as providing a DVD/CD player, upscaling to 1080P, internet access and TV (viewable and recordable). Blu-Ray & HD-DVD The newest plater and disc formats offering unparalleled video and audio reproduction. First generation players have had mixed reviews but as the technology matures, we believe that these players will be the future. To make the most of these formats and Sky HD you will need a HD Ready or even better a HD Compliant screen: HD Ready provides all the connectivity you need, HD Compliant provides the connectivity and the high definition resolution required to get the most from the technology.

CD and vinyl remain our top recommendations. Not only are CDs likely to remain widely available for years to come, but there continues to be new reference players released, like the Naim CDS555, which ensure you enjoy the music to the max.

SACD and DVD-A are still available formats and can offer some interesting and exciting results. Universal players like Linn's Unidisk and Arcam DV139 allow you to experience them.
